Light & glare
Build a comfortable lighting routine
Balance your room, screen, and task light as daylight changes. Small adjustments can make the desk feel more comfortable.
Use layers of light
Keep some background light in the room, then add task lighting where you write or type. Adjust the monitor to feel comfortable alongside both. A monitor-mounted light leaves room on the desk by keeping the lamp base off it.
Choose the setting that suits the task
Look at the screen and your notes together. Start low and adjust brightness and light tone to suit the room. Recheck when daylight changes; one setting may not suit the whole day.
Keep eye-care claims in perspective
A comfortable setup comes from light placement, posture, and breaks from close work. A desk light is not a medical treatment.
Use the glare guide to find reflections before adding brightness. If discomfort persists, seek professional advice.
